Stage 1 Water Conservation Rescinded
June 12, 2026
Dear Members,
We are pleased to announce that Stage 1 Water Conservation Measures have been rescinded effective immediately.
The Brazos River Authority (BRA) has terminated the Stage 1 – Drought Watch Declaration for Lakes Belton, Stillhouse Hollow, Whitney, Georgetown, Somerville, Aquilla, and Limestone following recent rainfall and significant inflows to these reservoirs. Lakes Belton, Stillhouse Hollow, Georgetown, Somerville, and Whitney are currently full, while Lakes Aquilla and Limestone are nearing full capacity.
As a result, mandatory Stage 1 water conservation measures are no longer in effect for our water system.
We would like to thank our customers for their cooperation and conservation efforts during the drought watch period. Your commitment to responsible water use helped protect our water resources and ensure a reliable water supply for our community.
While drought conditions have improved, we encourage all customers to continue using water wisely and efficiently. We will continue to monitor water supply conditions and will provide updates should conditions change in the future.
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation.
Sincerely,
Kempner Water Supply Corp.

June 11, 2026 Re: Termination of the Stage 1 – Drought Watch Declaration for Lakes Belton, Stillhouse Hollow, Whitney, Georgetown, Somerville, Aquilla, and Limestone Your entity was notified by letter, dated March 27, 2026, of the Stage 1 - Drought Watch Declaration for Lakes Possum Kingdom, Whitney, Aquilla, Proctor, Belton, Limestone, Somerville, Stillhouse Hollow, and Georgetown. Due to recent rains and inflows, Lakes Belton, Stillhouse Hollow, Georgetown, Somerville, and Whitney are now full, while Lakes Aquilla and Limestone are approaching full capacity. We do not anticipate drought conditions returning at these lakes in the near future. As such, the BRA is terminating the Stage 1 – Drought Watch Declaration for Lakes Belton, Stillhouse Hollow, Whitney, Georgetown, Somerville, Aquilla, and Limestone. A Stage 1 – Drought Watch condition remains in effect for Lakes Possum Kingdom and Proctor. If drought conditions re-emerge later this year, the Brazos River Authority will coordinate with you as necessary in accordance with the Drought Contingency Plan (DCP). The DCP is available on our website at https://www.brazos.org under About Us – Water Supply – Drought – Drought Contingency Plan. Current drought information is also located on the website at http://www.brazos.org/About-Us/Water-Supply/Drought.
