Memo-Intake Extension Construction Update

Memo:

From: General Manager-Kempner Water Supply Corporation

As you are all aware, we are in Stage IV of our Drought Contingency Plan.  Monday, August 14, 2023, we are installing an extension on our intake that will allow us deeper access to the lake, this should take about 3 days to complete.  During the day we will be using water from the storage tanks to supply our members while the plant is shut down.  The treatment plant will run overnight to replenish those tanks.    Again, we are asking all Members that have not complied with the Drought Contingency Plan to do so now to avoid disconnection and fines.  Beginning Monday August 14, 2023, we will be thoroughly enforcing our tariff for all who are non-compliant.  The first offense will include disconnection of your water service and a $150.00 fine plus a $50.00 Trip Fee; if excessive water use continues, your water will be disconnected for three days, and you will be fined $300.00 plus a $50.00 Trip Fee.

These are steps we do not want to take but are being left with no choice but to enforce.  The majority of our Members are complying, and for that we are grateful; but those that continue to irrigate their lawns are wreaking havoc on our lake levels.
